2024 EXIT ART WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Exit Art is a highlight for MAGNT, offering a rare glimpse into how young artists see the world. This year’s finalists are bold, articulate and deeply engaged with themes of politics and the environment. The future of Territory art is in good hands.
I’m proud of the exceptional talent on display and I congratulate all winners and finalists for their contributions. It’s also fantastic to announce our new partnership with the Darwin Street Art Festival, creating an incredible opportunity for Sophie Kerr as an emerging artist.
Come and see the exhibition - and take the time to read the labels. The insight and creativity in these works speak volumes about the strength of the Territory’s artistic landscape." MAGNT Director Adam Worrall.

Winner of the Exit Art Minister’s Choice Award

Fever Pitch
The Exit Art Minister’s Choice Award was awarded to Leyla Altintas from Centralian Senior College, Mparntwe / Alice Springs for her vibrant piece titled Fever pitch.
Artist’s Statement
Representing the vulnerability of human emotions, Fever pitch is a bold patchwork of coloured gestural marks. The continuous lines ride a crescendo of emotion and move chaotically across contours, like loose energies. Their rhythms stop, start and spike randomly.
The intensity of colours complements the female entity, mirroring the ‘fever pitch’.
The Honourable Minister for Education and Training Jo Hersey
“It was an extremely difficult task choosing the winner, with so many strong finalists working across different mediums. If this is the best of Stage 2 Art, we can be confident that the Territory has a thriving arts culture. When I walked in, Fever Pitch immediately caught my eye - the colours really drew me in. I love the way Leyla has layered the artwork, creating movement and energy that speaks to the viewer. There are so many amazing finalists, and truly, everyone is a winner. I look forward to seeing where these artists' careers take them."

The Honourable Jo Hersey – Minister for Education and Training and MAGNT Director Adam Worrall.
